Brent Neiman is the Edward Eagle Brown Professor of Economics at the Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago. From March 2022 to January 2025, he served as Counselor to the Secretary and Assistant Secretary for International Finance at the U.S. Treasury Department. Neiman serves as the co-director of the International Economics and Economic Geography Initiative at the Becker Friedman Institute, participates as a panelist at the U.S. Monetary Policy Forum, and is a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research. He co-founded the Global Capital Allocation Project and was previously an associate editor of the American Economic Review, The Quarterly Journal of Economics and The Journal of International Economics. In addition to his academic appointment, Neiman is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the Boards of Directors of the Office of Finance of the Federal Home Loan Banking system and the Chicago Council on Global Affairs.
