EDWARD GLAESER is the Fred and Eleanor Glimp Professor of Economics and Chair of the Economics Department in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University, where he has taught since 1992. He regularly teaches courses on microeconomics and the economics of cities. His books include Triumph of the City, Survival of the City (joint with David Cutler) and Fighting Poverty in the US and Europe: A World of Difference (joint with Alberto Alesina). He leads the NBER’s Urban Economics Working Group, and co-directs the Cities Programme of the International Growth Centre. He received his PhD from the University of Chicago in 1992.
